 Ceredigion Coastal Path

The Costal Path

Llanarth is in Ceredigion near the Coast of Cardigan Bay, and only 5 minutes from New Quay and the Costal Path. This footpath follows the costline of Wales and is popular with walkers. The fabulous views around the Bay offer some of the best views of the Welsh coastline and the area tend to be quieter than the more popular areas of Pembrokeshire further down the coast. This means that you will get to enjoy the best of the Welsh costal path and see the wildlife such as red kites, Chuffs, Seals and Dolphins in peace and quiet.

Mwnt, Penbryn, LLangranog and Tresaith are all 10 - 20 minutes’ drive away further down the coast they are the some of the prettiest coves on the Ceredigion coastline.

 Dolphins - Cardigan Bay

New Quay is a popular seaside resort with many restaurants, cafes and pubs. It is also the home of the Dylan Thomas Trail. Dylan stayed in New Quay and based several characters in “Under Milk Wood” on local residents at the time. The film about Dylan Thomas 'The Edge of Love' with Kiera Knightly and Sienna Miller was shot on location in New Quay in 2004.

The Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre  is well worth a visit, to learn all about Cardigan bay and its wildlife.

New Quay Boat Trips also offer  Half day or Full day tour of Cardigan Bay from one of the boats which leave the Quay throughout the summer. This will give you the opportunity to see some of the fantastic sea life of Cardigan Bay including dolphins and seals.

For the more adventurous, there is  also Thousand Islands Expeditions who operate from St David's in Pembrokeshire. They offer tours around the RSPB protected Ramsey Island.

To the North is the popular town of Aberaeron with its colourful houses and picturesque harbour. Nothing could be better than standing on the harbour on a summer evening watching the sun set. There are also numerous restaurants and food outlets in the town. There are a number of activities going on throughout the year including the Welsh Cobs Horse Festival and a Carnival in August.

In land from Aberaeron is the National Trust Property of Llanachaeron. The house, designed and biuilt by John Nash, is part of an 18th century Estate which has been restored recently to its former glory. It is a fantastic example of how the Welsh gentry lived 200 years ago. There is an easy 2 mile walk and cycle track along the old Aberaeron railway from the town to the House. At the house there is a cafe and picnic Area.
